Bokaos Aveda is one of the Top 10 Salons in the lucrative Pasadena CA market. Despite having a great reputation and well known owner their online presence was very lack-luster. When we initially took them on as a client their website ranked on page 4-5 of Google. In other words it was nowhere to be found. We did not redesign the website because of budgetary concerns. We instead started optimizing every page in the site for the major local keywords. Most business owners do not realize that there is a tremendous difference between web design and site optimization. We optimized most of the content on the site and made a lot of technical changes that many people might not recognize as important to Google and subsequently ranking. With constant and continuous optimization the site moved from page 5 to page 1 for all 10 of the major local keywords relevant for this business. The increased exposure was key to them staying open and busy during a tough economic time. Many years of different locations and different people working on their marketing had drastically reduced the effectiveness of the internet for them. We cleaned their business citation listings and optimized their Google My Business listing, turning it into an active portal to expose their stylings. We created weekly and monthly postings to promote the business and invite new clients to try their services. Sadly the business decided to hire a web designer that solely concentrated on the looks of the site, ignoring optimization technical aspects and content changes that had been made. The site no longer ranks on page 1 for any of the main local keywords. The GMB listing still maintains its position in the 3-pack. Site Design and Site Optimization are both needed but are two completely different things. You can have a great looking site...that no one sees!
